Deutschmeister
Brass Band Report
Forwarded
From German Cultural Society, St. Louis
The Deutschmeister Brass Band has completed another successful
season. We performed for five events held by the Verein, plus the
Weihnachtsfeier still to come. We also played for five events away from
the club, including St. Agnes nursing home and a private subdivision
party for Compton Heights in St. Louis.
We returned to the St. Louis Zoo for their annual Ottertoberfest
and added a new trick to our repertoire. The Zoo initially wanted the
entire band to march in the parade to open the Ottertoberfest. But,
since the band is not set up to march, we came up with an alternative.
Some of our members have informally started a wondering minstrel group
to play in the audience at our public performances. They teamed up with
an accordion player hired by the Zoo and lead the parade. It worked
great! You can see pictures of the minstrels and of all the band
performances this year on our web site at www.germanband.com
.
We are always looking for new members for the band, and this year
we were lucky to find five new members, some from contacts from our web
site. The new members are: John Corandini, Becky Fischer, Teri Gudowicz,
Jim Kelhoffer, and Mike Major. 361 to all of you.
To contact the band for information on joining (no audition
required), or for booking the band for a performance call John Ampleman
