The UGH Major’s Corner is a new recurring feature of UGH’s “The
Progress”. Each month we will bring you the latest Team updates as
well as profiles of a few members of the Team.

JASON
KARASOW Sweeper |
|
Captain of the team, Jay plays the sweeper position,
and is always prepared to lead the team to victory. With the
ultimate goal of winning a National Championship in mind, he
works hard with the team to improve. Game by game he helps
make the team the best it can be. The twenty-nine year old
player, who wears jersey No. 2, has been with the club for
eleven years, seven of them being full time with the Majors.
Although he started playing soccer near age four, he began
playing at the club at age eighteen. When asked why soccer was
the sport for him his response was, “That’s what sport my
parents signed me up for when I was little and I’ve been in
love with it ever since.”
Karasow played youth soccer for, Upper Moreland SC,
Warrington SC, Celtic SC, Hunter SC, Fox Chase SC, and Bayern,
before coming to the German Hungarians. He attended Upper
Moreland High School, graduating in 1998, and went on to
graduate from LaSalle University in 2002. The loan officer for
Prime Lending boasts 1996 and 1997 Suburban One Division
Championship, EPYSA U-23 ODP player, 2003 EPYSA U-23 State
Championship, as well as 2008 EPSA Open Cup and Amateur Cup
State Championship. He also has several years experience
coaching EPYSA Olympic Development Program teams and is a US
Soccer National C licensed Coach. Jay, who is currently dating
lifelong member of the Club Danielle Weyershaeuser, is a
dedicated member of the team and the Club.

KEVIN
SHERRY Midfielder |

Kevin Sherry has been involved in soccer at the German
Hungarians for ten years. The man who wears jersey No. 18 is
thirty years of age. Sherry began playing soccer at age four
in Deptford New Jersey, and has continued to play up into his
adult life. He attended High School in Deptford where he
graduated in 1996. His college career led him to Rowan
University where he graduated in 2000. The Health and Physical
Education Teacher, is also the Head Soccer Coach of Deptford
High School..
In his years playing soccer, Sherry has accrued, 1998
NCAA Div. III Semi-Finalist, at Rowan University; and is
nationally ranked in the top 20 each of his four years at
Rowan, his highest ranking being No. 2 in the nation.
Kevin is married and, with his wife Carletta, has a
daughter Tristen. Kevin Sherry is an asset to the team, and
uses his skill and talent to the teams overall advantage.

BRIAN
BLESI Midfielder |

Brian Blesi is a committed member of the team. The
twenty-eight year old player, who wears jersey No. 9, has been
playing with the Club for seven years. He got his start
playing soccer at age five in Parkwood, with the Parkwood
Youth Organization. Blesi, as he is known by many, graduated
from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1999. From there he
attended College Misericordia from 1999 to 2001, and LaSalle
University from 2001 to 2005. He now teaches elementary school
and is the assistant coach at Cheltenham High School.
Blesi was awarded, 2-time PAC selection at College
Misericordia, Phila. Soccer 7 All-Star, and Team MVP at
LaSalle University. His accomplishments on the field also
include, 2-Time PAC Finalists-Champions in 2000 for College
Misericordia, and 2008 PA State Champions for the German
Hungarians. He plays soccer because of the “perfect balance
of teamwork and individual skill (to sum it up),” as he puts
it.
Most recently he was engaged to Kristine Bittner, and
is looking forward to starting his life with her. Brian Blesi
is a great soccer player, and master of the trivia game Quizzo!
We hope to continue to see him on and off the field!
