On Saturday November 26, 2011 Chicago Donauschawben held their
51st Rosenball. Started
many years ago, Rosenball is an elegant evening showcasing the dancers
of the Chicago Donauschwaben Jugendgruppe and their guest partners.
Rosenball continues to delight guests with a special ballroom
performance in the tradition of the Viennese Opera Ball.
The performance included a combination of traditional folk
dances and Viennese music. Thank
you to the members of Chicago Aid Society, Danube Cultural Society of
Southwestern Wisconsin and other Jugend guests for participating in
this elegant performance!
The evening
also includes the crowning of the new 2011-2012 Rosenkönigin.
Congratulations
to this year’s 2011-2012 Rosenkönigin Erica Hauer!
Erica is a high
school senior and has been an active member of the Jugendgruppe for
the past four years. Prior to that, she was an active member of our
Kindergruppe for 10 years and a Wochenendschule student from Pre-
Kindergarten thru 8th grade.
She also worked an additional two years for the Wochenendschule
as a Kindergarten assistant. Erica's high school activities include
three years of Class Council, four years of German Club and this year
serving as an Officer, member of the National Honor Society, German
National Honor Society, Hawk Pride Leader, German tutor, and co-editor

After graduation, Erica will attend college and major in Education and
