Gustav and Gertraud Huhn Scholarship
In May 2008 Mrs. Gertraud Huhn bequeathed the sum of $36,804.29 to the German Language School Cleveland in her last will and testament. Using these funds, the Executive Committee of the School board (President of the School Board, Principal of the School, and Director of Curriculum of the School) created the Gustav and Gertraud Huhn Scholarship. NAME: It shall be called the Gustav and Gertraud Huhn Scholarship
MANAGEMENT: The funds shall be managed by a group consisting of the President of the School Board, the Principal of the School, the Director of Curriculum of the School and the Treasurer of the Beirat. This group shall present a report to the Generalversammlung at the time of their meeting. The funds are invested under the umbrella of the German-American Cultural Center of the Donauschwaben, but will be used exclusively for education.
ELIGIBILITY: Three students (one from each of the three (3) highest groups and, if possible, a fourth (4th) one from WID (Wahlthema Deutsch) shall each receive a full scholarship for one school year, the membership fee, and book fees, if needed. Any additional income per annum may be applied toward Continued Education of teachers.
CRITERIA FOR RECEIVING SCHOLARSHIPS: The scholarships will be awarded by decision of the President of the School Board, Principal of the School, and Director of the Curriculum of the School using the following criteria in the following order of importance. 1. Results of the AAIG exam. 2. Result of A2 exam. 3. Attendance- no more than 2 excused absences per semester. 4. All homework assignments handed in; complete and in a timely manner. 5. Recommendation by the student's teacher of that particular school year. 6. Attendance of a minimum of 3 years at DSS Cleveland.
All awards will be deemed final and not subject to challenge.
