VISITING AUTHOR/EDITOR ARTICLE OCTOBER 2008 Discovering German Roots Elderhostel Genealogy Submitted by John Frey Tallapoosa, Georgia Dear Donauschwaben:
Elderhostel is running a program on German genealogy that may be of
interest to those of you who are seeking to extend their roots back into
the 17th C and beyond. It deals with the causes and motivations that
led many Germans to migrate from their homeland to distant places such as
the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and North
America and gives an introduction to the sources of genealogical
information in Germany. Best wishes to all John Frey
