FIRST TEAM - UPDATE
The Green White First Team has
been playing in a Tuesday night house
league at the Odeum since before
Thanksgiving in order to stay sharp for
the upcoming Metropolitan League Indoor
Season, which kicks off on January 10,
2010 against United Serbs.
In the Tuesday night league, the
team has not exactly set the world on
fire, but has managed to limp their way
to a 2-3-1 record. Rosters for the Metro
League season were set and turned into
the league on December 18th. Returning
to the squad for the indoor season are
familiar Green White veterans such as Sean
Connor,
Tom
Czop, Colum
Donahue, Brendan
Connor,
Jamie
Limna, Eric
Spiess, Anthony
Derose
and Brandon
Hardy. Also returning to the club
following their semester hiatuses are Jimmy
Romano
and Arso
Mitreski. Coach Truty
also welcomes back last year’s
Green White newbies Rolando
Cruz,
Jason
Okroy, Justin
Dugena, Adam
Misirly
and Niko
Voules, mixed with a new crop of
freshman that include Jose
Cornejo, Art
Rosiles and Monroe
Bell, Jr.
With the start of the new indoor
season, many questions loom large. Will
the stellar form displayed by AAC Eagles
in the fall translate to the indoor
game? Can Sockers FC duplicate last
year’s undefeated campaign? What will
the International new boys bring to the
table? These questions and more will all
be answered on Sunday afternoons at the
Odeum in Villa Park.
The Green White First Team
schedule is below. Come out and support
the team.

OVER 40 TEAM – UPDATE
Also playing in a Wednesday night

International F.C., Itasca F.C. and Blue
Group.

YOUTH TEAMS
Like the senior club, most of the
Green White youth teams are taking their
game indoor this winter. Most of the
teams are playing in winter leagues at
the Lattof YMCA in Des Plaines, but the
U14 Wildcats is playing in Schaumburg
while the U14 Premier is playing in
Barrington. Unfortunately, no schedules
are available on line. Good luck to all
the teams.

SOCCER NEWS

From UGH
The game originally scheduled for December 6th (UGH
MAJORS vs. Phoenix) at Phoenix for the Eastern Pennsylvania
Final of the US Open Cup did not take place that day due to
weather conditions. The following Sunday December 13th the
game took place at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in worse
conditions than the original game date. Although it took
place in a rainstorm it was a great game. The game was 0-0
at halftime. We scored early in the 2nd to go up 1-0 and
then gave a goal with about 10 minutes left. Phoenix took
that momentum into OT and went ahead 2-1. A few minutes
later we had a goal called back and we lost 2-1. Phoenix is
the EPSA Open Cup Champ.
Thanks to all the fans that came out despite the
conditions and lack of a clubhouse/beers after. Tough way to
end the fall half of the season but we’re still in good
shape in the league and amateur cup.

First
Team Season Recap
The Chicago Kickers First Team finished their fall
season with 14 points from 4 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses.
From 23 goals for and 13 against, the First Team is
currently in 2nd place in the First Division of the
Metropolitan Soccer League (although several other rain-out
games still need to be played). Outstanding players include
goalkeeper Chris Robbins and midfielders Andy Bamett and
Dave Hanlon. After winter break, the spring season is played
and the winner is promoted to the Major Division. The
Kickers play home games at the A.A.S. in Lake Villa, and
most games kickoff Sundays at 3pm.
U9
Chicago Kickers Girls Team
The U9 girls' team started their play in Barrington
at the FC Barrington Classic Labor Day Weekend tourney. This
first year team, comprised of six 8 yr olds and two 7 seven
year olds, had a tough go in their first ever half, falling
behind 4-0. Then they remembered they were Kickers and came
back to beat their Libertyville opponent by scoring 5 second
half goals and won their first game ever 5-4. They went
2-1-1 for the tourney and were off to a good start. With
only 2 girls possessing travel soccer experience, the team
is continually developing and learning and has won 2 league
games already this fall and have been shutout only once in 6
games. They play their home games on Sundays at 1100 am.
U12
Girls Chicago Kickers
Our team is made up of fourteen girls, ages 11-12
playing in the IWSL U13D division this year. We are playing
up one age level this year. The girls are working hard and
just won the U12 National Championship at the Racine
Lighthouse Classic tournament with a 4-0 record. Our home
games are played at the club house on Sunday at 11:00.
Chicago
Kickers U10 Boys White Team
The Chicago kickers U10 Boys white team strives to
develop young players both on and off the field. We try to
foster a family first environment where all family members
have fun through soccer.
Below
are some of our more recent accomplishments: |

2009

2009

Annual Hunting Trip
By
Adam Sollmann
As in the last 45 years the Hunters are again getting
ready for their annual Hunting Trip to Wyoming. The
preparations include a meeting, shopping for supplies and of
course packing. This year there were only 4 out of the
regular 7 Hunters. Health issues were the problem. We left
early on October 13th. The weather was very good and we
arrived save at our destination. We had to leave our van in
town and drive up with 4-wheel trucks since it snowed the
day before, but the snow melted and turned the ground into
mud.
On opening day we shot an elk and a deer. The second day
Lady Luck went with us, and in the morning we shot another
elk and a deer, and in the afternoon we shot a third elk,
thanks to Lady Luck. After that we had two deer licenses
left which we filled on the third day of hunting. We packed
up and proceeded down the mountain, which was a good thing
since it snowed all day and we would have been snowed in.
All the meat has to be brought down the mountain to a
processing plant in Worland, Wyoming. Again we brought
enough meat home for our Annual Venison Dinner which will be
on March 6th, 2010. We hope to see you all there.

With the fall season behind us, the Kicker’s gear
up for a busy off season.
We have started working on many new things, one of
which is a new look on our website. For many years Hal Mayer
single handedly designed and managed the website. When no
other soccer clubs offered a website, Hal made sure that we
had one and that we could report all the news. Tim Busch,
George Schleis and Hal Mayer have begun work on a new
website that is going to offer many new items in addition to
the old items. Amongst the new items will be field
conditions, coach’s corners, individual team sites, a
“kickers list” to post classified items, Kicker-TV to
view action games, pictures and much more. We are excited
about the site and can’t thank these guys enough for their
hard work.
Recently we held our annual Fall Cleanup. We had a
great turn out and completed the task list. I can’t thank
everyone that helped enough. You were all outstanding and
completed the task list and even additional items that were
not on the list. Thanks to all – your help and constant
support will continue to make our organization stronger and
better with each passing season.
I had the great pleasure of seeing many of our youth
teams play this season. You cannot help but be impressed by
the skilled players the Kickers are turning out. It was nice
to watch U8 players cross a ball, or U9 players take corner
kicks that had great placement. We have players that are
growing to be skilled, knowledgeable, soccer players. These
teams are exciting to watch. This is only an indicator that
our coaches are doing their jobs and that our youth camps
are doing what they are designed to do. I only expect to see
more and more teams in Premier 1 divisions. I look forward
to reporting all the new accomplishments from the Kicker’s
in the Spring newsletter. I am looking forward to seeing
everyone at the banquets and hope that everyone enjoys the
holiday season!
