believe these are the parents of Thomas C Sterling (aka?
Thompson C Sterling) who was the father of Margaret Gladys
Sterling Thornton, mother of Carl Thomas Thornton.
I
am combining the information of this family line on this page until I
can either confirm or unconfirm the relationship.

| Introduction:
I initially had the information that Thomas C
Sterling had been born abt 1862, his father was from Tennessee and may
have had the first name "Chamberlain" Mother's name
was initially unknown. There was also information that he had
been a policeman and was possibly from London, England.
Thomas C Sterling lived in Georgetown,
Texas. Supposedly his first wife, Leona Boiles?, died after
childbirth of Margaret Gladys Sterling, the future wife of Doss
Younger Thornton, father of Carl Thomas Thornton.
While on Ancestry I did a search for T C
Sterling and found this name on an 1880 Federal Census Form. The
father on this form was James Sterling, born in Tennessee. The
mother was listed as Elizabeth Sterling, born in Missouri?. They
were married in Missouri.
On several Federal Census forms I found the
James and Elizabeth Chamberlain Sterling family to be living in Travis
County, Texas, which is near Austin Texas and Georgetown, Texas.
I then found a marriage form that showed
their information, including Elizabeth's maiden name as Elizabeth
Chamberlain!
On a later Federal Census there was , for the
same family, a Thompson C Sterling, age 10. Keep this in mind.
Researching Thompson C Sterling, I found
information showing he was a policeman, in El Paso for the Heid
Brothers, Inc. A public information site showed him to be living
at 1700 E. Missouri Avenue, El Paso, Texas.
I had also found such a document showing
Thomas C Sterling, living at 1700 E. Missouri Avenue, along with wife
Nancy A. Sterling. Another set of documents showed Thomas C
Sterling also being a watchman for Heid Brothers Inc.
Another document showed a Thompson C Sterling
and spouse Nancy A. Sterling.
Thus, I am concluding that Thomas C Sterling
and Thompson C Sterling are the same person and thus related to the
James and Elizabeth Chamberlain Sterling family.

Last name: Chamberlain
This famous and interesting
surname is of Old French origin, and is an occupational name
for a chamberlain, that is an official in charge of the
private chambers of his master; the term was later a title of
high rank. The derivation of this name is from the Old French
and Anglo-Norman French "c(h)ambrelain, cambrelane,
cambrelen(c)", chamberlain. The Italian cognate "camerlengo"
was given to a manager of a pontifical court.
The surname itself first appears
in records in the mid 12th Century (see below), while other
early examples include: Geoffrey le Chaumberleng, mentioned in
the 1194 Curia Rolls of Wiltshire; Robert Canberlenc, recorded
in the Feet of Fines in 1195; Martin le Chamberleyn in the
Feet of Fines of Cambridgeshire of 1232; and Thomas le
Chaumberlyn, who appears in the Assize Court Rolls of
Staffordshire in 1293. Sir Leonard Chamberlain (died 1561) was
sheriff of Oxfordshire and Berkshire (1547 and 1552), M.P. for
Scarborough (1553) and Oxfordshire (1554), and Governor of
Guernsey (1553 - 1561).

In 1925,
El Paso Saw & Belting Supply Co. was founded in El
Paso, Texas by Frank W. Gorman, Sr. His vision was to
service the lumber and mining markets in Arizona, New
Mexico, West Texas and Mexico. The company continued
to evolve and adjust to the changing needs of its
customers.
In the
early 90’s, the company’s name changed to Gorman
Industrial Supply Company and continues to honor the
high standards of service and integrity established by
Mr. Gorman some seventy years earlier.
The
company continued to grow and in 1995, Gorman
Industrial Supply Company opened its doors in San
Diego, California to serve southern California and
northern Mexico. Seven years later in 2002, owner
Patrick W. Gorman partnered with Randy J. Kelch and
opened two additional offices in Phoenix and Tucson to
service the state of Arizona. In 2010, the company’s
owner recognized an additional business opportunity
and became a franchise owner of Batteries Plus in El
Paso, Texas.
Today, Gorman Industrial
Supply Company continues to be family owned and
operated with its main office in El Paso, Texas. The
