Before you publish anything, you really need to get your facts straight. Michael was not sick for many years and certainly was not in a coma. Please go to the source before you go to print.

If you have any questions, please contact me, Linda Gartner – Michael’s niece.

Vielen Dank!

Visitation:

Saturday, September 18th, 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Cornelius Church, 5430 W. Foster Avenue, Chicago.

Interment private.

Mr. Michael Stoeckl passed away last September after many years of sickness. He was in a coma several years ago but came out and made a fairly good recovery. Even mentally he was still pretty good. Physically was a little harder and he had to have help. Mr. Stoeckl was the greatest collector of Donauschwaben literature, newspapers, books and everything written about the Donauschwaben. He was a wealth of information about the Donauschwaben. His expertise and knowledge will definitely be missed. Our sympathy goes to his remaining family members. May he rest in peace.

Michael Stoeckl, age 90, beloved first-born son of the late Josef (Magdalena nee Pintz) Stockl; dear brother of Joseph (Helga) Stockl, and the late Marianna; dear uncle of Linda (John) Gartner; dear great-uncle of Alexandra and Maximilian; loving cousin once removed of Elisabeth (nee Stoeckl) Poliakas. Cousin and friend to many throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, and Brazil, South America.

Long-time member of Kerneier Pleasure Club, and The Society of Danube Swabians. Born in 1920 in Kernei, one of many German villages in the former Yugoslavia, Michael began amassing Kernei’s history and geneology of its approximately 9,000 residents after World War II. This long and tedious task took well over 60 years resulting in the publication of many books. Michael’s passion in life was helping people trace their family tree. His sources on the subject were innumerable. After several severe health related issues over the last two years, St. Peter heard Michael’s final call and opened the gates to heaven on September 13, 2010.
