DONAUSCHWABEN TRACHT

by Erika Neumayer

American Aid Society of German Descendants

I am currently a student at Dominican University and I will graduate in May 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design. I love traveling and have been to Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Ghana and I hope to see as much of the world as I can. My travels are very influential on my work and help me to see things in new ways.

I dance with the American Aid Society of German Descendants Youth Group and have been dancing with the group for 16 years. I love my heritage and wish to learn everything about it. I love historical dress and using old world techniques in my work. Making dirndls comes naturally to me since I have grown up wearing them and I look forward creating my own dirndl line.

For me, inspiration comes from everywhere...

Please help Erika in this project to promote our Donauschwaben Heritage!  Send us your information regarding your village/regional Tracht so that we may display it on our website for all to enjoy.
