Dances of Austria

Herbert and Carol Traxler are the founding leaders of the Alpine Dancers and the Alpine Singers, specializing in dances and songs from Austria. In 1991 they formed the Alpine Dancers who perform Austrian, German and Swiss folk dances throughout the greater Washington, D.C. area and all along the East Coast. They continually expand their dance repertoire while attending numerous dance festivals and workshops in Austria and the United States. In recognition of their ongoing promotion of Austrian culture and teaching Austrian dances, the couple each received the prestigious Goldenes Verdienstzeichen (Decoration of Merit in Gold) from the Republic of Austria in 1998.

An article (in German) about their work, Die "Alpine Dancers & Singers" – Volkstanz (und Wiener Walzer) in und um die US Bundeshauptstadt, appeared in Der Froehliche Kreis, Wien, Maerz 2008, pp. 4-5.

To reach Herbert & Carol Traxler, send email to caroltraxler@yahoo.com or visit the Facebook pages Alpine Dancers & Singers, Herbert Traxler or Carol Traxler.
