Ave Maifest
Lincoln
Ave Maifest had great weather but unfortunately we still had to
dance under the big tent.

The kids did a nice job dancing and many enjoyed the
carnival games afterwards. It is always nice to dance for people
who do not see this type of dancing all the time. Their
amazement and appreciation is always fun to hear in the crowd.
Kindergruppe
Report
By Christine
Slabinger & Monica Gabler
The Kindergruppe have been busy enjoying the summer with
vacations, summer sports, camps and, of course, Great America.
Children's
Playground
Our playground committee bought six park benches for our
playground out in Lake Villa. You can now enjoy sitting down and
watching your kids and grandchildren play.
We used some of our cookbook funds to pay for these
benches. Thanks to everyone for your support as we will continue
to add and improve our playground area.
Lake Villa
Maifest
We had our first annual Maifest in Lake Villa. Thanks
to the Kindergruppe. Parents for volunteering and helping in the
kitchen, bar and parking cars.
Memorial Day
Our Kindergruppe had the following girls as Maria Madels;
Carilyn Manon. Karoline Klein, Marianne Leber, Kerstin Rieg,
Megan Gabler, and our first communicant was Karina Palffy. We
also had Susie Byrom and Ella Palfry dressed in Trachts from
Hilde Neumayer. The late Mrs. Schlaechter purchased the crowns
from Germany that some of the girls wore.
Musikfest
Musikfest always brings a good crowd to Lake Villa and
this year was no exception. We had a lot more people there than
ever before. Our Kindergruppe danced for the large crowd and
even though they were few in number, they did a fantastic job
that was well received and appreciated by the crowd. Thanks to
Karoline Klein, Kirsten Lengfelder, Suzie Byrom. Carilyn Manon,
Michael Balcerak. Joey Byrom, Matthew Slabinger and Stephen
Slabinger for doing a super job at Musikfest.
July 4th Picnic
While it rained in Chicago, Lake Villa had great weather
to celebrate the 4th. We had a 40 piece band from Austria to
enjoy. Of course we had our own Kindergruppe that first sang a
few songs and then performed several dances. An annual highlight
at the 4th is the Kindergruppe ceremony moving up to the
Jugendgruppe. This year we had four longtime members Matthew
Katzenmayer. Nancy Henz, Bridget Kennedy and Samantha Leicht
move on to the Jugendgruppe. Thank you for your years of support
and good luck in the Jugendgruppe. We will miss you!
Our busy fall season is around the corner. We ended the
summer with the Heimatfest. Then
many of our Kindergruppe made plans for the Landesverband
weekend which was held in Michigan this year over Labor Day.
